Entrepreneurship is the positive, optimistic and winning attitude taken by a person facing the uncertainty existing at the start of a new activity or business. This is one of the principles of Zamorano, along with academic excellence, learn-by-doing, character formation and leadership development, and Pan-Americanism. To this regard, we develop the ability to constantly seek out opportunities, obtain the resources to take advantage of them, organize and lead teams and successfully implement ideas and plans.

At Zamorano, it is a cross axis that drives academic and business activities, institutional outreach and services towards innovation and competitiveness in products and services. Many Zamorano students play key roles through mechanisms that include participation in seminars, courses on entrepreneurship, company incubation, an annual business plan contest and participation in international fairs.

The Zamorano Entrepreneur Day is held annually to promote this principle. It is also an opportunity to recognize the accomplishments of the student teams. Fourth year students work individually or in teams to develop business plans that are evaluated internally by faculty and, subsequently, by an external panel of successful bankers and businessmen. The three best business plans are awarded with seed money, facilitating their development by the winning students upon graduation from Zamorano.

The Center was founded in January 2004 with the support of philanthropists and the participation of faculty members from the various programs. It is headed by a specialized professional with ample experience in business creation and development. A team of specialists from the faculty and the university enterprises is affiliated with the Center and shares its knowledge, experience and know how in the various agribusiness fields. It also receives support from businessmen and allied institutions from various countries.

The Center also carries out outreach activities in close cooperation with the Business Development Program (PROEMPREZAH) and other Zamorano programs, benefiting businessmen, rural communities and, especially, the youth.
