Mission
Zamorano educates and trains leaders based on rigorous programs, academic excellence, learning-by-doing, values and character development; and contributes to socio-economic progress.
Vision
Zamorano will continue to be a leading Panamerican university, recognized by the quality and the impact of our graduates, their education, our applied research and outreach for the development of sustainable agriculture, agroindustry and natural resources.
OUR PILARS
Zamorano’s unique educational system is supported by these five pillars:
Academic Excellence
Zamorano constantly strives to maintain excellence in its academic programs, ensuring that its graduates respond to the needs of the societies in which they will soon become active members. To achieve this objective, Zamorano continually monitors and evaluates its academic system, identifies the needs of the changing marketplace and the knowledge that Latin America’s future leaders must possess.
Learning-by-Doing
More than a philosophy, it is a learning method that educates for life. Zamorano students acquire skills that complement the theoretical content they learn in the classroom. As they rotate through the different work modules in our University Enterprises, students are exposed to the unpredictable situations that arise in the workplace. Zamorano’s Learning-by-Doing program ensures that students actively learn how to learn.
Character Formation and Leadership
In addition to becoming highly-trained professionals, Zamorano graduates are recognized for their proactive attitude, professional conduct, and a willingness to serve others. Under a rigorous system of Student Life, students come to appreciate and value organization, cleanliness, and respect for the environment and their communities. The tranquil campus environment, activity-filled residential living and Zamorano’s unique learning system strengthen students’ values, develop their character and build the foundations of leadership.
Pan-Americanism
One of the most important characteristics of Zamorano is the diversity of its student body; our students represent diverse ethnic and cultural groups from 18 Latin American countries. Women represent 30% of the student population. This diverse environment inspires a spirit of solidarity, and students learn to respect and share their knowledge and customs, cultures, religions and dreams. Together, these experiences forge values that strengthen a student’s character and personality. Over their four-year academic careers, Zamorano students build lasting friendships that transcend the barriers of culture, class and nationality.
Entrepreneurship
Whether in the classroom, Learning-by-Doing modules, or Student Life activities, Zamorano emphasizes practical training, business management and leadership. We promote the creativity, innovation and development of business plans for ideas that, when combined with the talent of our students, grow into successful enterprises in the countries to which our graduates return.
