"This good performance makes the Zamorano name synonymous with excellence to the point that other universities and businesses make their economic and logistical resources available to our students”.
Ms. Paola Carillo
Professor and internship coordinator of AGI

The professional practice or internship is an essential part of Zamorano’s Learning by Doing. It places the student in real scenarios where the knowledge and competitiveness acquired during the first three years of study are applied. This internship is carried out during the first fifteen weeks of the student’s fourth year.

Zamorano’s international prestige has allowed our students from 22 countries to conduct their internships in different parts of the world, such as Holland, Israel, France and Argentina, among others. The students are welcomed by renowned international universities, agroindustrial businesses and NGOs, where many of them conduct specialized research projects under the tutelage of experts, and others skillfully support the operations of the businesses that receive them.

The experience obtained during this period contributes greatly in the choosing of the topic for their Graduation Proyect, a unique academic opportunity to conduct original research related with the field of study the student has chosen.

Raising High the Zamorano Name
“Our students always stand out when conducting their professional practice, proposing research, solving problems and above all demonstrating their willingness to work. These traits are what make them deserve the best grades from their supervisors. This good performance makes the Zamorano name synonymous with excellence to the point that other universities and businesses make their economic and logistical resources available to our students,” said Ms. Paola Carillo, professor and internship coordinator of the Food Agroindustry career.

Expanding Professional Horizons
The professional practice also presents a range of opportunities, where the size of their achievements will depend on their individual efforts. Many students take advantage of this experience and open doors to continue their studies abroad.

“I conducted my practice at Wageningen University in Holland, where I am currently getting a double master’s in international land and water management. I will obtain my doctorate in tropical agricultural systems at the Institutions et Marchés in France. Zamorano has given me the opportunity to appreciate different cultures and countries, and thanks to the support of Zamorano professors, I have been able to triumph here and in other parts of the world,” said Linda Esteli Mendez (Nicaraguan, 2007 graduate).
