We Are Zamorano!
Zamorano has many reasons to be proud: a long and illustrious history; a vibrant academic environment; interesting research programs and; above all, a long tradition of service to the Americas.
However Zamorano’s greatest asset is its people, including its student body, its faculty, its graduates, and the people who work on its campus and in its offices around the continent. They all make up the great Zamorano family, which is involved in a daily struggle to maintain excellence and raise up the Zamorano name.
The following are 5 different aspects that make us proud of Zamorano:
1. We are a recognized leader on a regional level. Zamorano a regional agricultural university of long-standing tradition and prestige. Since its founding in 1942, it has constantly sought after excellence. The Zamorano philosophy of Learning by Doing is recognized worldwide.
As a result of its significant contributions to agricultural science, Zamorano is considered by governments, regional collaborators and the private sector as a strategic partner for the development of different programs.
2. We represent a great opportunity for brilliant young people with limited resources. More than 75% of Zamorano students receive some kind of financial aid and in many cases this involves full scholarships. “We feel proud to be able to transform the lives of hundreds of brilliant young people, many of them from families with limited resources, turning them into real leaders who are capable of making substantial changes in the realities of their countries,” declared Mr. Hugo Zavala, Head of the Zamorano Registry and Office of Financial Aid.
3. We have a faculty made up of outstanding professionals. The Zamorano professors have the highest level of academic formation, with doctorate and master’s degrees from the world’s best universities. Many of the professors have received recognition on a global level and are invited to international scientific fairs and conferences to give lectures and workshops.
4. We are Panamerican. Social and ethnic diversity is one of Zamorano’s characteristics with students and faculty coming from 21 different countries. It is a melting pot of races and cultures that come together to share knowledge and experiences “I think Zamorano’s greatest strength is the diversity of its student body, made of young people from all over Latin America from the region’s different socioeconomic, ethnic and cultural backgrounds. The experiences I shared at Zamorano made me capable of being the person I am today and the friendships I made will last my entire life,” says Carla Mejía (Ecuadorian, Zamorano 1997).
5. Our graduates. There are approximately 6,500 Zamorano graduates spread around the world; among them are government ministers, managers of large companies and banks, successful businessmen, project coordinators, renowned consultants and international university professors.
In We Are Zamorano, we invite you to learn about the experiences of some outstanding Zamorano graduates, either due to the difficulties they overcame to achieve success or to the significant achievements they have made.
