In the Food Agroindustry career we form Engineers with ample knowledge about the agroindustrial sector and its impact on Latin American countries and the world.

Our graduates learn to implement wisely science, technology, research, entrepreneurship and social and environmental responsibility. They know how to identify raw material quality, and they learn to transform it in order to generate added value. At the same time they learn management skills for administering agroindustrial companies.

The above, together with moral values and leadership, characterizes the Zamorano formation and produces professionals who are competent specialists.

 

A Food Agroindustry Engineer is characterized by being:

  1. A specialist in agroindustrial processes. Identifies, analyzes and solves problems in the chains of food distribution, processing lines, agroindustrial organizations and consumers.
  2. A specialist in processing raw materials. Transforms and preserves raw materials in order to produce safe, quality products, focusing on the consumer and using safe and sustainable technologies.
  3. A creator of new products and food services. Has innovative ideas, making him/her capable of developing new food products and production lines, as well as designing processes and carrying out scientific research.
  4. An entrepreneur for the agroindustrial sector. Identifies opportunities, organizes, adapts and secures resources to undertake sustainable activities in the agroindustrial area

In addition his skills:

  1. Communicates effectively orally and in writing and uses information technology, research and communication as a work tool and a means of self-teaching.
  2. Behaves ethically and with great social and environmental responsibility, ensuring the beneficial social impact of his/her personal and professional activities.
  3. Works in teams and under pressure with a sense of urgency.
  4. Coexists, collaborates and strengthens relations with different sociocultural groups.
  5. Is ready to adapt easily to new local or international workplaces or academic environments and carry out post-graduate studies at highly prestigious institutions.
  6. Resolves conflictive situations through critical and impartial thinking with a focus on results.
