Position Title: Marketing and Communications Manager

The Marketing and Communications Office reports to the Director of Institutional Advancement, and has a mandate of supporting the University in building and enhancing profile in support of its strategic vision and is responsible for the overall stewardship of Zamorano´s image, developing targeted marketing and communications programs, developing strategic relations with the media and is the main source for internal university communications and for developing and ensuring the Zamorano´s visual identity standards.

Description and responsibilities

The successful candidate will play a leadership role across the campus in the coordination and integration of marketing and communications programs, resources, and efforts to engage internal and external audiences in the institution, in alignment with the University’s priorities, and to enhance Zamorano´s institutional image.

Responsibilities

  • Will be responsible for the news and media strategies and programs that steward and enhance the University’s brand image and reputation – fostering relationships with national and international media, as well as image with other communications professionals, to build its public profile and highlight our achievements in research and teaching.
  • Working with the University community, will be responsible for the development and implementation of brand strategy and creative development; researching, designing, and producing communication materials and programs that meet the University’s strategic objectives.
  • Responsible in coordinating the University’s various initiatives in an effort to ensure integration, consistency, and brand value, with respect to the institution’s key messages and visual identity, to all audiences. Identifying, developing, and implementing strategic initiatives on behalf of the University to enhance its image and reputation, and recommending new initiatives to build the University’s brand.
  • Work with the University authorities, overseeing Zamorano´s official trademarks to ensure they are adequately protected while generating maximum exposure and benefit for the University.
  • Responsible for the strategic direction and development of the University’s communications, including the website and for the development of integrated electronic communications strategies in support of institutional goals. Includes responsibility for the on-going development and management of the www.zamorano.edu homepage and the site’s top-layer navigation/interface, as well as the University’s official social media channels, media relations, videos and communications.
  • Lead a crisis management team, work closely with senior management in responding to any crisis that requires the support of the communications team, and be part of the emergency contact team.

Requirements

  • University graduate: Marketing, Communications or related fields, master degree preferred.
  • 10 years of experience in the role of marketing management, education preferred.
  • Disciplined self-starter, creative thinking and analysis
  • Excellent managerial, marketing and inter-personal skills, team work capacity, highly-developed communication skills, ability to work under pressure.
  • Experience in managing staff and budget and a strong commitment to education services
  • Bilingual (English and Spanish): 100% in all aspects and have lived and worked in a multicultural environment, preferably in Central or South America, at least 5 years.
  • Superior written and oral communication skills.
  • Efficient in Microsoft Office and Internet.
  • Willingness to live on the Zamorano campus located in a rural area, 19 miles (30 km) from Tegucigalpa, the capital of Honduras.
