The countries of Latin American and the world are involved in a process of globalization and free trade. Today producers of agricultural and agrifood products have to be innovative, competitive and entrepreneurial. They must be able to develop businesses capable of competing in international markets.
In response to the challenges described above, Zamorano created the Agribusiness Management career in 2002, with an innovative and multidisciplinary program in the field of agribusiness and business administration.
In the Agribusiness Management career our goal is to form leaders that contribute to the region’s economic progress. Our students learn and seek to apply the competitive advantages needed by the agribusiness sector, as a decisive factor to generate wealth and reduce poverty in their countries. We also encourage the creation or development of productive businesses capable of competing in a globalized market.
Our academic program is based on the study of macro and microeconomic sciences, applying disciplines, such as marketing, finance and human resources management, among others. Furthermore, Zamorano’s Learning by Doing is a great professional advantage for our students which students at other universities do not have. Our students learn and closely manage a product’s value chain – dairy, meat, fruits and vegetables, etc. – from its start with the raw material production to its transformation in the agroindustrial plant to give added value to the export product, always taking into account environmental management at every step of the process.
The career also houses the Zamorano Center for the Entrepreneur, whose main objective is to promote the spirit of entrepreneurship among students and provide training in the creation and operation of new businesses.
We have a first rate faculty, composed of professors with master’s degrees and doctorates, graduates from the best business and economics universities in Latin America and the world. All of them are experts in doing research and proposing and sharing viable economic strategies.
Our graduates occupy senior positions as managers of public and private institutions. While their special strength is in business concepts related to agricultural production, food processing, marketing and exports, they also skillfully perform in any field of business administration.
