Strengthening the education of students is a priority for ZAMORANO and providing top-notch educational facilities is crucial to our success. Zamorano recently renovated the Post-Harvest Plant which now provides students with modern infrastructure and optimal conditions where they can learn about post-harvest processes, physiology of post-harvest fruits and vegetables, and preparing orders.

In this plant, fresh fruits and vegetables are received, stored and minimally processed products are distributed. It is a central hub in the fruit and vegetable chain at ZAMORANO, serving as a commercial bridge from the production fields to all internal and external customers, such as supermarkets and restaurants in Tegucigalpa and San Pedro Sula, Honduras.

Students are trained in post-harvest handling of fruits and vegetables (leaves, fruits, roots and tubers). Here they learn to identify the criteria for receiving, washing, sorting and storage of these products according to their nature and customer specifications.

In the Post-Harvest Plant, Zamorano also conducts theoretical and practical training courses on the fruit and vegetable value chain for external clients as well. Topics such as good manufacturing practices, proper handling of fruits and vegetables during storage, minimum processes and ingredients and the development of new fruit and vegetable products are covered. Additionally, Zamorano provides advice on the development of new industries (systems and processes) in the area of fruits and vegetables.

The improvements made at the plant are a prime example of how ZAMORANO stays current in business trends and utilizes updated technologies in our teaching.
