The Master’s in Agribusiness is a part-time presential program, specializing in business and management in an international environment. The program is offered by INCAE and ZAMORANO, providing  access to first-level training that is compatible with work activity and that allows the knowledge and skills acquired to be immediately put into practice.

Likewise, the master’s degree is an intensive program consisting of five two-week modules. In addition, a leadership course is included throughout the program.

The Master’s in Agribusiness is designed for professionals who work in the Agroindustrial and Food sectors and need specialized training in business and management in an international environment.

Its goal is to train leaders for the sustainable development of human talent with knowledge and high-level managerial skills in the context of the fourth industrial revolution and the new normality, specialized in areas of: administration, agribusiness, digital business and international food supply chain.

The intensive 12-month program is offered by INCAE and ZAMORANO and is divided into five modules, each lasting two weeks. It provides access to first-level training that is compatible with work activity and that allows the knowledge and skills acquired to be immediately put into practice.

Top-level Alliance

The Master’s in Agribusiness is a part time master’s degree created from the alliance between two elite institutions in the region: INCAE Business School and ZAMORANO University. It provides a unique combination of preparation in specialized areas of agribusiness in order to develop key skills and competencies for the development of Latin America.

This part-time graduate course is carried out on both campuses, developing modules alternately between the venues over the 12 months, thus taking advantage of the flagship study methodology of both universities.

INCAE’s “Case methodology” and Zamorano’s “Learning by Doing methodology” allow the updating of new trends and training of key skills for the development of executives and decision-making leaders. Likewise, the program promotes such capacities as effective communication, persuasion, leadership, negotiation and teamwork, while fostering an international network of contacts in agribusiness field.

The Agricultural sector in Latin America has a higher than average importance for local economies, both in contribution to GDP and in job creation. In many countries of the region, the agricultural GDP reaches more than 10% of total GDP. Regarding employment, in countries like Guatemala, approximately a third of the population works in the sector, according to World Bank Database 2020.

However when compared internationally, Latin American agroindustry is characterized by low productivity, coupled with rural poverty and challenges such as climate change, high energy and water consumption, deforestation rates, social conflicts and migration.

Precision Agriculture and Agriculture 4.0

Presents an integral vision of farm and plantation operations, as well as advanced technology applications for analysis of productivity and harvesting efficiency. Likewise, it teaches the principles of nutrition and growth environment anatomy and physiology in plants, as well as behavior and other aspects that affect the marketing of beef cattle, pigs and poultry. Participants will gain a basic understanding of the environmental problems caused by conventional agriculture and learn about the challenges in achieving an economically viable, socially supportive and ecologically sound agricultural production system.Subjects:Animal and Plant Production, Entrepreneurship in Agribusiness, Sustainability and Corporate Social Responsibility.

Digital Transformation and Data Analytics

Students become familiar with the determining factors of the fourth industrial revolution and its application to agribusiness and the food industry: social, cloud, mobile, data, lOT, additive manufacturing, artificial intelligence, cybersecurity and other technologies. Additionally, the program develops criteria to take advantage of the main data analysis and visualization tools, both Data Mining/Machine Learning algorithms and case studies of companies that are using such tools to improve productivity and create competitive advantages. Strategic Planning in the Agrifood Supply Chain

Develops understanding of the typology of differentiation strategies that agricultural companies can adopt to obtain better prices than the industry average. Likewise, it studies cases of real companies that successfully developed strategies of vertical integration, strategic alliances and diversification. Furthermore, it teaches the application of advanced analytics in supply chain distribution channels, inventory management and retail operations. Subjects: Supply Chain Management, Strategy in the Food Business, Leadership.

Finance and Accounting

Introduces the key aspects of accounting and financial statement analysis in agribusiness. Delves into topics such as special inventory valuation rules, risk coverage, cooperatives, agricultural assets and key topics to manage the finances of companies and corporations, providing an understanding with regard to the relationship between production processes and their financial implications for the company. Subjects: Accounting, Finance.

Economy and Markets

Explains the complexities of the international trade of agrifood products at the level of commercial policy, exchange rates and financial instruments (futures and options), among others, as well as key elements in the development and commercialization of final products such as the psychology and purchase process, trade marketing and multichannel management. Subjects: Agricultural Economics, Trade and International Markets, Marketing, Retail and Channel Marketing.

Food Sciences and Biotechnology

Offers an integral vision of the transformation of agricultural products into food, understanding key elements in their composition and preservation, as well as aspects of safety, legislation and regulation in said industry. In the Zamorano laboratories, it also teaches the techniques and advances in biotechnology and their applications in the Latin American context. Subjects: Food Science and Technology, Biotechnology.
